COVID-19 Travel Update
Given the continued impact and uncertain nature of COVID-19, the University of Lynchburg has decided to cancel all faculty-led study abroad programs through summer 2021. The University did not take this decision lightly but felt it was necessary to ensure the health and safety of the campus community. This decision was informed by guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Department of State, and World Health Organization. No determination has been made about summer 2021 study abroad programs with outside partners.
Faculty-led domestic study away program applications for summer 2021 will remain open. However, Lynchburg will continue to monitor the situation and convey any potential changes related to domestic study away and outside study abroad programs with as much advance notice as possible. Faculty considering domestic study away for summer 2021 should develop protocols regarding transportation, lodging, and availability of healthcare in the area where the study will occur as part of their proposal.
Faculty can begin making tentative plans for faculty-led study abroad in fall 2021. The Center for Global Education, working with the Pandemic Task Force, will be discussing and evaluating risks for fall travel. Both study abroad and domestic study away are valuable experiences for students, and we hope to offer both as quickly and safely as possible.
The Center for Global Education will communicate with all students who have applied to participate in programs as more information is available. Students should contact the Center for Global Education at email@example.com with any questions.
Opportunities for Undergraduate and Graduate Students
We offer multiple faculty-led, exchange, and direct enrollment study abroad programs designed to prepare students for competitive careers in a global society. Our partnerships with colleges and universities around the world make study abroad accessible for more students. In fact, Lynchburg students are more than twice as likely to study abroad as their peers at similar schools. You can join them!
